I love a themed gift box and this one celebrates A Christmas Carol—that classic redemption tale written by Charles Dickens nearly 200 years ago. I grew up enjoying so many iterations of the story, whether it was seeing my uncle as Bob Cratchit in a college production or splurging on tickets for the Guthrie Theater’s iconic show every few years. We even had the wonderful experience of watching Gerald Dickens, the great-great grandson of Charles Dickens, perform a reading of the story during tea at the St. Paul Hotel. So, of course, A Christmas Carol had to make an appearance in The Advent Box!

The sky’s the limit when it comes to what you could include in your Christmas Carol in a Box. Here’s what we had in ours, just to get you started:
A copy of A Christmas Carol in book form. I bought ours at Barnes and Noble, but I’m pretty sure every bookstore—and places like Target and Walmart—sell them during the holidays.
Wax candle made with the Christmas Colors Beeswax Candle Making Kit from A Toy Garden. So easy—and satisfying—to make! And the candles burn beautifully.
I found a Ghost of Christmas Present ornament in a bin at Target. Sometimes you just get lucky! Etsy has lots of nice options if you’d like to include an ornament. Or you could go a different direction with a Christmas Carol-themed mug or one of the many film versions of the novella—human or Muppet!
Packages of cocoa mix. Whatever kind you like.
Christmas Pudding Caramel Corn. I cannot stress enough how delicious this caramel corn is. Alexandra and Lily made several batches—to share and to eat ourselves . . .
Bookmark with Tiny Tim’s famous line.
Scrooge’s famous line on a card and a label for the Christmas Pudding Caramel Corn. You can print out the graphic and tape it to a container or size it to fit on a printer label.
Full text of the play if the recipients are “act it out” types! This is a version I put together for my family—I tightened it up a bit for length while staying true to the original.
So there you have it—everything you need to create a festive Christmas Carol in a Box gift! Drop me a note to let me know if you came up with any other fun ideas to add to your box!
